Reigning May Queen 2007 Jessica Tancock

We have celebrated May with a Pageant in Walton since its revival in 1969. The modern pageantry follows ancient traditions, and symbolises the departure of winter and the coming of spring.
The new May Queen is escorted by her six girl attendents, the Chimney Sweep, who sweeps away the winter gloom, and Jack of the Green who carries the crown for his Lady. The new May Queen is crowned by Jessica and will perform various duties throughout her reign.
Maypole Dancers give traditional performances.
Proceeds from the Pageant will be donated to the national and local charities described here.
